The hair of the dog is one thing, but sometimes a werewolf remedy’s the better bet. With nights growing longer and a bad moon on the rise, don’t go out. Do this instead.
Ingredients
Raw meat of a Jack o’Lantern, stripped of seeds (pumpkin purée in a pinch)
A healthy cutting of ginger, peeled and chopped
To taste (don’t be stingy):
ground allspice
grated nutmeg
ground Ceylon (accept no substitute) cinnamon
ground cloves
Canadian Maple syrup (accept no substitute)
Canadian whiskey (accept no substitute)
Or, for an epic zero alcohol option, Gosling’s Ginger Beer
Method
1) Place pumpkin meat, ginger and spices in a small sauce pan, cover with water and bring to a boil.
2) Reduce heat put the lid on and allow to simmer for an hour until reduced.
3) Pass through a fine metal sieve into a mason jar.
4) Add maple syrup to taste and allow to cool.
5) Place a tablespoon into an Old Fashioned glass.
6) Add a shot of Angostura orange bitters and an orange slice or candied ginger.
7) Stir in two shots (or so) of Canadian whiskey (accept no substitute) or ginger beer to taste.
8) Ice it up.
